Our quaint property is tucked away in the beautiful Orr Canyon. Much of this area was homesteaded by the late Orr family. Passed along to the Turner Family, this property was then purchased by Curtis and Mable Mitchell. The Mitchell family relocated from south Texas during the Great Depression Era. Making their long trek in a converted Model T truck, they settled in Cloudcroft and made it their home.
A Ranch House was then added to the farm. Constructed in the early 1950s, this authentic Ranch House was built with Cloudcroft's very own railroad tressle timbers. A second story log addition was added years later.
On the Mitchell farm, they grew gladiolas and sold them to Burgett Floral. Also, they ran a small dairy and poultry farm, and delivered milk and fryers to the Cloudcroft residents. Years later beef cattle were raised and sold.
Now days, things are much slower. Only a few horses lazily graze the never ending pastures. Our days here are filled with love, grace, and strong family bonds. We hope you come and stay with us a while, and come to love the area as much as we do. Maybe you can even make a little history here of your own!
